Friendship Games Athletes Give Back to Santa Cruz County

September 12, 2024 || CCC Education Department

On the weekend of September 6-8, 2024, Monterey Bay Academy's annual varsity flag football tournament (part of the CCC Friendship Games Sports Ministry!) a total of 12 Adventist schools came together for three jam-packed days full of sports, fellowship, spiritual enrichment, and service to our Lord. All six CCC senior academies were represented, as well as an additional six teams from the Northern and Southeastern California Conferences.

Students were blessed to be able to work in partnership with Santa Cruz County's Second Harvest Food Bank, which provides services to the food-insecure members of the community. These services include but are not limited to providing nutrition classes (over 120 per year!), food boxes tailored specifically to recipients' medical needs, and promoting sustainability by working directly with local sourcing to supply fresh produce and nutritious seafood from Monterey Bay!

The student athletes worked together and collected 15 whole barrels of canned goods for Second Harvest, which will be part of the 11-million-pound total of food that is distributed annually in Santa Cruz County. Praise God for the dedication and passion of these young folks for feeding His sheep!
