One of Armona Union Academy’s School-Wide Spiritual Action Plans this year is to pray for
a specific AUA student during daily staff worship time before the beginning of the school day. At the start of the school year, school chaplain Kathy Hernandez scheduled students to be included in these prayers.
A couple of weeks ago, Jasmine’s name appeared on the prayer list for the 7th and 8th grade slot on Monday morning. Roger Matias, the 7th and 8th grade teacher, noted that he didn’t have Jasmine in class. Jasmine and her brother had never completed the registration process in August and had subsequently been withdrawn; they hadn’t actually attended AUA this school year. What to do?
The staff quickly decided to pray for Jasmine anyway—wherever she is, we knew she and her family could still benefit from prayer. After the prayer, the conversation turned to what Jasmine and her brother might be doing this year. The following week, one teacher saw Jasmine’s mom at a church activity and talked to her about why her children weren’t attending AUA anymore. The next Saturday evening, Jasmine’s mom encountered the principal at a church event in the AUA gym and asked what it would take to re-enroll her children. What a wonderful example of God’s timing and the power of prayer!
Now, Jasmine and her brother are both attending AUA again. Praise the Lord!
